Overview

Job Summary: Supports the department by providing quality assessment and comprehensive psychotherapeutic group activities for a population of patients hospitalized for treatment of psychiatric and emotional disorders. Also, by serving as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, supports the unit's treatment program and philosophy, assuring the delivery of quality care.

  • Provides group therapies to the behavioral health inpatient and PEA population.
  • Works across the 6 inpatient units teaching and practicing recreational, leisure and coping skills to prepare patients for success in the community.
  • Teaches patients how to manage symptoms through the use of art, music, movement, recreation and leisure activities.
  • Helps to manage the milieu by providing meaningful activities in the group setting.
  • Provides three to four groups per day, participates in the treatment plan and individual assessments to patients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field (e.g. activity therapy, recreational therapy, music therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy)
  • Certification, licensure, or registration in appropriate area
  • One year experience in behavioral field (three years preferred)

This position is PRN and will help support vacation coverage.
