Our team is committed to the care and improvement of human life.  At the Transfer Center, we also assist in arranging transportation services when needed through connection with ground and air services.  Our goal is to provide comprehensive solutions that allow health care providers the ability to stay at the bedside with the patient while we assist in locating placement, transport, and other needed logistics for getting this patient the access to care that they need.


Role Summary: Responsible and accountable for daily operations of the Mission Direct Regional Transfer Center including regional referrals and patient placement across Mission Health.   Advocates and allocates resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, quality outcomes and communication in support of patients across the Western North Carolina region receiving access to timely care.  Integrates clinical, human resource, and financial data to support decision making. Promotes research and integrates evidence-based practice into clinical, operational, and leadership processes. Ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.


The Nurse Manager ensures the Transfer Center functions are consistently maintained during all hours of operation; provides oversight and direction over all staff and processes related to transfer Center functions at all times.  The position works in collaboration with transfer center staff,  hospital department representatives, and leadership teams to foster relationships with referring facilities, physicians, and hospital staff around the concept of patient transfers. The position works closely with staff at all levels within organizations served to identify, trend, report, and overcome barriers to patient throughput or transfer processes.


Required Education: Master's Degree in Nursing or BSN with MBA, MHA or related field; or by currently signed commitment letter. Those new to the role must become actively enrolled within 6 months and complete within 3 years. Any exemptions from the master's degree requirement must be approved by CNO Council.


Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.


Required License/Certifications: Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON.


Certification: National Certification in area of specialty within one year of accepting the role. Certification may be in leadership or area of clinical practice. Those actively pursuing degree must obtain national certification within 1 year of graduation. Certificate: BLS Healthcare Provider


Required Experience: A minimum of five years of recent nursing experience; 2 years in relevant clinical hospital experience with demonstrated leadership skills


Preferred Experience: Previous leadership experience
