Overview

Job Summary: This pharmacist will be based in an adult critical care unit or step down floor at Mission Hospital. The critical care pharmacists are responsible for 20-24 bed critical care units or up to 88 bed step down units.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Interpreting and evaluating appropriateness of physicians' orders and ensuring the accuracy of each final medication product.
  • Participating in daily multidisciplinary rounds in the critical care or step down unit(s)
  • Optimizing drug therapy management to ensure safety, successful therapeutic outcomes and cost efficient therapy for patients 
  • Completing consults and responding to clinical alerts
  • Precepting pharmacy residents and students
  • Communicating drug information to all customers

The pharmacist will rotate through the evening and weekend rotation which may include coverage of the main pharmacy.

 

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy

 

Preferred Education: A residency and/or Pharm.D. degree is preferred

 

Required License: An active license to practice in North Carolina, or eligible to become licensed in North Carolina within 60 days

 

Preferred Experience: Previous hospital experience and/or pharmacy residency is desirable
