Role Summary: Clinical management of pre and post implant patients in collaboration with the physicians. Coordinates the clinical evaluation of potential VAD candidates. Coordinates discharge plans and provides follow-up consultation for discharged patients and sees patients at clinic visits. Educates nursing staff and patient/caregiver on patient care, maintaining VAD equipment, and safety measures. Provides education and support to community health care professionals who may encounter VAD patients. Serves as a clinical expert and leadership consultant to all appropriate hospital staff and to the larger community. Ensures compliance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines and other regulatory agencies, as appropriate. Performs other related duties as required.
Required Education: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Other Health Care Related Field
Preferred Education: Master's Degree in Nursing
Required License: RN
Preferred License: APRN
Required Experience: 3-5 years experience in cardiovascular nursing, cardiac surgical nursing, critical care nursing, cardiac transplantation, and/or care of patients with ventricular assist devices.
Preferred Experience: Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience in cardiovascular care. One year experience as a VAD Coordinator.
