The Special Procedure Technologist performs a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures. Special Procedure Technologists are required to utilize sterile techniques, operate complex angiographic equipment, and assist physicians by scrubbing and circulating during procedures, as necessary, throughout the Mission Health system. Continuing education, learned skills and experience will be utilized. This position will function without constant supervision to produce superior quality of radiographic images. The technologist must respond appropriately for emergent procedures as determined by the on-call physician. The technologist must demonstrate independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
May be assigned to cover areas including: Cardiovascular OR, Vascular OR, Interventional Radiology, and Cardiac Catheterizaiton.
Required Education: Graduate of a JRCERT accredited School of Radiography.
Required License/Certification: ARRT registered in Radiography or Interventional Radiology. BLS certified. ACLS preferred.
Preferred License/Certification: Certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (RTR-VI), Cardiovascular Interventional (RTR-CV) or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
Required Experience : One year previous experience in a multi-disciplined Interventional Radiology Department required. Approved experience gained through a clinical education program in Radiography is acceptable.
Preferred Experience: Two years previous experience in Special Procedures and Operating Room (Vascular and/or Cardiovascular)
